Welcome to our web site.  This information is provided to guide you through the
extensive offerings, values and philosophy of Cougar Mountain Academy.  We hope
that this web site will be instrumental in choosing Cougar Mountain Academy for your
child and provide quick access to information and programs available at the Academy.

Established in 1962, Cougar Mountain Academy is for gifted or highly capable children
and for those who, with parental support, are willing to put forth the effort needed to
reach levels of excellence.  The Academy nurtures each student as if that child were the
only one attending.  The dedicated approach to the development of each child at the
Academy represents a priceless gift for life.

Founded in 1962 in Bellevue, Washington the School moved in 1972 to the new, permanent Cougar Mountain Campus in Issaquah.  Cougar Mountain Academy is an independent, coeducational and non-sectarian private school, established to fulfill with a high degree of excellence the intellectual, aesthetic, physical, emotional and social needs of children experiencing the irreplaceable founding years of life.

Cougar Mountain Academy is a school for gifted or highly capable children and is dedicated to providing an excellent education for each individual student.  The high caliber curriculum combined with an individualized, non-graded and non-competitive approach to learning enables each student to develop optimum potential and a deep
love of learning.

The dedicated approach to the development of each child at Cougar Mountain Academy represents an invaluable gift for life.

The Cougar Mountain Academy Elementary Program does not define student’s level of achievement by connotations such as first, second, third, fourth and fifth grade.  Due to the advanced and individualized curriculum, students are referred to as attending the Lower or the Upper Elementary Program.

 Student Uniform                                                                                                                  Section 1

The Cougar Mountain Academy student uniform code assures a superior standard of School wide appearance factor.  Students are required to wear a school uniform.  In order to preserve individuality, students are offered a choice of uniform components.  The carefully designed Academy uniform creates a more relaxed atmosphere, a sense
of belonging and promotes School spirit thus unconsciously upgrading behavior standards and academic excellence.
